James Batty is a British pianist, composer and sound artist. James discovered the piano at the age of 8, and his first formal musical education was at Chetham’s School of Music. It was there he began to develop his unique musical language, which combines haunting, fleeting fragments of melody with distinctive, constantly moving harmonies. Having written in the past for a huge range of musicians, including the BBC Singers and mainstream pop acts, he has now fully immersed himself in his own brand of electroacoustic music which puts the piano centre-stage.
